HUF teams up with Japanese artist Haroshi and skateboard distributor DLX Distribution to collab on these very artsy sculptures you can see below.

The sculptures were created from recycled skateboards.

MAKE Skateboards Group Exhibition at I-20 Gallery

Here is a look at an exhibition currently out in New York until September 17th, presented by  Scott Ogden and Jonathan Lavoi. They  present the MAKE Skateboards group exhibition, which turns the gallery into a full skate shop for about two months.So if you're in the NY area, go check it out.

“I-20 Gallery is pleased to announce MAKE SKATEBOARDS, a group exhibition and pop-up skate shop conceived as a throwback to the days when art took precedence over branding and a welcoming vibe met you at the door. The show will be a playful take on running a skateboard shop, transforming I-20 into a functional retail space offering a custom line of artist-designed skateboards, skate-related ephemera and accessories, original artwork, vintage objects, custom furniture and clothing by up-and-coming New York designers.
A true working skate shop, MAKE SKATEBOARDS will offer decks that are fully skate-able yet designed to an artistic standard. Two types of boards will be available: affordable, limited-edition silk-screened skateboards; and one-of-a-kind decks altered and embellished by hand, including several conceptual takes on the idea of skateboarding itself.”

Ji Yong Ho - Mutant Mythos

Here we have "Mutant Mythos", a collection of sculptures done by Korean artist Ji-Yong-Ho. the amazing hand crafted pieces are made from recycled tires and include animals, humans, and combinations of both. The pieces were first exhibited at gana art, new york in 2008.

” Having grown up at the base of a large mountain in Korea, Ji adopted tires as his signature material based on a childhood memoryof the spare wheel on his family’s jeep, vital in the rural landscape where his grandmother raised cattle and other livestock.”

” This early exposure to both domesticated and wild animals informed his desire to make art about humanity’s responsibility to nature,via subject matter as well as recycled materials.”
